Jubber Thrix Hour

Round 5 of the Victorian Enduro Series is on at the iconic Jubberland Race venue just out of Castlemaine.

The event is a 3 and 6 hour Endurance MTB race for solo competitors or teams

PRICING
Solos - $65 per senior rider, $35 per junior rider
Teams - $130 per team, $65 for the 3hr Junior pairs

3 Hour;
- Solo Open Male (age ≥15yrs)
- Solo Open Female (age ≥15yrs)
- Solo 40+ Category (at least 40yrs of age and can be male or female)
- Junior Team of 2 (age 13-18yrs)

6 Hour;
- Solo Open Male (age ≥19yrs)
- Solo Open Female (age ≥19yrs)
- Solo 40+ Category (at least 40yrs of age, mixed male and female)
- Male Team of 2 or 3
- Female Team of 2 or 3
- Mixed Team of 2 or 3 (age ≥15yrs in a 2 person team, age ≥13yrs in a 3 person team)
- 40+ Team (all riders at least 40yrs of age and may be male, female or mixed)

Age is calculated as of December 31st 2018

JUNIORS
We are following the MTBA Guidelines on Junior Participation in MTB events, recently updated in March 2018
To compete in the 6hr as a solo you should be at least 19 years of age
15 - 18 year olds should enter the 3 hour Solo, the 6 hour Team event or the 3 hour Junior Pairs
13 & 14 year olds should enter the 3hr Junior Pairs, or enter the 6 hour in a 3 person Team

The Duael 6hr Pairs Enduro

Flat Hill Dirt Crits & Rush Cycling Events have set up again to bring you this great event. Basically put; it's a 5-6 hour mountain bike singletrack pairs enduro - nothing fancy, you do one lap on one lap off, no double laps for those fit boys and girls, it’s all about team work.

As for the course, you can expect dirt, rocks, ruts, switchbacks, corners and more corners, drop off, ups downs, trees and all the nature the gold fields of Victoria can throw at you and your buddy in buckets.

A reminder for all who plan on racing at Back to the Future - The Race this Sunday. Entry is cash only on the day! $40 for MTBA members or $55 for those needing a day license. Please try and bring correct change to make life a bit easier for us. Racing starts at 11am.

Back to the Future 3Hr

We decided that couples get too cold in August if they don’t cuddle up. 
And you can’t cuddle up when you are racing the Duael . 
So we are moving it to a warmer date, Stay tuned.

But seeing we had a date and a course we have decide to run Back to the Future, A pairs and solo race with everyone racing each other. 
The striped back format is described below. Our money is on a solo rider to take the win.
Laps counted only. It's 20th century pricing, 40 Bucks. It starts in the middle of the day. A tailgating sausage sizzle will be had on completion. Supermarket sausages in a piece of white bread included in your entry fee. 
We may even throw a bit of White Crow in with that too.

We will be running a few impromptu group rides - but just ride these fabulous trails how you wish.

We may run a night ride dependant on all the variables.

Camp over Saturday night, we will be.

Sunday:   “Jakes Extravaganza Ride”

Jake will lead a ride extraordinaire of various Castlemaine trails

Cost $10. Stay over (we will rent some Portaloos)

The rest is up to you, BYO everything.

Urban Epic March 30th

It's been a while, so we reckon it's time for another Urban Epic.

March 30

Things to bring along:
1. Bike: Single speed, geared, hardtail, softail, your choice.
2. Food: Bring it with you, theres none along the way.
3. Spares and tools.

The ride is 80+ k's, We'll be riding at a steady pace (Not race pace)
There are water points along the way and we will pause at all for fill ups.
So allow 5 or so hours.
If you cant make it all the way, or don't have enough time just turn early, no stress.
We roll out at 9.00 from our start point at the Collingwood footbridge on the Yarra Boulevard

Duael 111 Bites the dust (and rocks)

Well a big thanks to you riders for making this year’s Duael such fun for Cam and myself, we loved your racing riding and enthusiasm.

Thanks to Monza, Sram, Prime, Enduro Mag, Top Bike Tours, Total Rush, and Fitzroy Revolution for their support.

Look we realize this will never be a participation event and we plan to keep it that way, we know the format is tough and we think we had a course to match this year

Our push of the mixed pairs worked as well as we hoped.

We look forward to next year’s Duael .

The race is split into 4 categories with Cash for 1^st 2^nd and 3^rd, sponsor prizes for 4^th 5^th and 6^th for“Loving Cup” mixed pairs. 

Total Rush Elite Pairs category. 1st $300 2nd $200 3rd$100. Sponsor prizes for 5th & 6th.

There has been huge turn outs the last two years for this great event and we're expecting even more for 2013 - numbers are capped so find a buddy, choose a category and we will see you there.

MTB Riders and free stuff. A cautionary tale.

Once upon a time there was a race not like any other race; because it was THE DUAEL.

Once upon a time there was a mountain bike rider who we will call Nick who raced the DUAEL with his good campadre (lap on lap off)

And finished in the money so to speak. Now Nick was a young family man with you know “ limited funds” for bike stuff. His current project was a single speed;

Steel frame, 180 cranks, ebay bits. The last piece in this puzzle was “The Fork”. Expensive!

Well now to the nub of the story .

Picture prize giving at the DUAEL. It’s major random draw time ROCK SHOX SID forks. How good! (I believe there is another pair this year)

Now back to Nick and his good campadre. Place prize collected. Quick nudge “let’s go”. Quietly up to the car and off up the dirt road.

Meanwhile back at the DUAEL major draw . Breathes are held. The name is drawn . Oh No (Oh Yes) “ Nick”.

The crowd calls “Nick”, no show . A friend phones Nick , no reply . Then the call  “there they go” – and everyone watches Nick and his good campadre drive away from a pair of ROCK SHOX SID forks.

The crowd calls  ‘draw again” and the curtain falls.

You know the moral of this story!

Don't let down a stranger

Sorry folks, but the weather forecast this Tuesday isn't great, so we are going to postpone the Blind Date till next Tuesday the 19th.

This will give you all more time to practice transitions, baton changes and back slaps in readiness.
